Hyundai India may launch its Sonata Fluidic model at the Auto Expo in January 2012. The model is known as i45 in foreign markets. With a ‘Fluidic’ Sonata, the company would expect to reinvent the car and boost its sales in the Indian automobile market. Incorporating the ‘Fluidic’ design concept in its car models has proved successful for Hyundai in the global market and helped it recreate for its cars a new appeal among its customers.
The company received favorable response when it launched the Fluidic Verna sedan in India in 2011. Hyundai may now cash in upon the success of the Fluidic Verna to launch the Fluidic Sonata sedan. The success and appeal of the new sedan will also depend on the engine technology adopted for the new sedan. Currently, the Sonata Fluidic i45 is sold with a 2-liter VTVT petrol and a 2.4-Liter gas approach injection petrol engine alternately in foreign markets.
