Hyundai India, the largest car exporter and the second largest carmaker in India has unveiled its first compact sedan the Xcent at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. The new compact sedan car model is expected to be launched by the carmaker in the Indian car market in the month of March or April 2014.
Based on the Grand i10 platform, the Xcent compact sedan will feature the same engine specifications as the hatchback version and will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The carmaker may additionally provide the option of a 1.4 liter diesel engine for the compact sedan further with an option of a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Hyundai India is also planning to expand its production operations to roll out 6,75,000 cars annually and export about 40 percent of the total car production to about 126 global auto markets. The increase in production will also cater to the increase in demand for car models such as the Grand i10 compact hatchback.
