Hyundai India targets 6,50,000 unit sales in 2013

Hyundai Motor India, the Indian arm of the South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company is planning to achieve sales of 6,50,000 units in the year 2013. The carmaker sold about 6,41,000 cars in the year 2012.

Apart from the sales target, the carmaker plans to commission its new engine plant by the end of the year 2013 which will allow it the flexibility to manufacture both diesel and petrol engines as well launch new car models in the Indian car market.

Commenting on the sales target of the carmaker in India, Mr. Bo Shin Seo Managing Director Hyundai Motor India stated that the targeted figure of 6,50,000 units including 4,10,000 units to be sold in the domestic market while the rest 2,40,000 units will be exported. He added that the domestic sales out of the total sales for year 2012 stood at 3,91,000 units.

Mr. Seo also stated that the proposed flexible engine plant will have an annual capacity of 3,00,000 units and will be operational by the end of the year 2013.
