Hyundai India sales in October 2011

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter registered a 7.5% decline in cumulative sales for the month of October, 2011. While domestic sales dropped by 5%, exports declined by 12.4%.

HMIL’s aggregate sales for the month were 48,325 units against 52,217 units in October, 2010. Domestic sales were 33,001 units against 34,720 units in the corresponding month last year; exports were 15,324 units against 17,497 units in October 2010.

Commenting on October 2011 sales, Arvind Saxena, Director – Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “We have seen that sales get a boost in the festival season but this year sentiment has been tepid. We don’t expect a major upswing in the near future, the challenging economic environment is affecting industry. The Eon has been received well, we have got more than 9,000 bookings till date.”

The segment-wise cumulative sales for October, 2011 are: A2 segment (Eon, Santro, i10, i20) 41,204 units; A3 Segment (Accent and Verna) 6,929 units; A5 segment (Sonata Transform) 2 units; Santa Fe (SUV)190 units.
