Hyundai will be launching a new car, H800, in November 2011 which will compete with the existing Maruti Suzuki Alto and the upcoming car Chevrolet Spark 800cc. The car will be competitively priced under Rs. 3,00,000 and will be positioned as a volume puller for the company. Equipped with a three cylinder 800cc engine, Hyundai claims that the car will provide better fuel economy and power than its competitors.
Apart from the new launch, Hyundai is also planning to expand its dealer count in the rural and suburban areas which would help it make the car available to a wider customer base and untapped markets. With a plan to add 1000 rural sales outlets in the country, the company would also add about 300 service points to support the same.
According to Mr. Arvind Saxena, Director (Marketing & Sales), Hyundai Motor India, by the end of year 2011, the company plans to grow its sales share significantly in the rural markets with the help of the new car launch and the rural expansion model. Currently, the success of the new Hyundai Verna Fluidic and strong selling cars, Hyundai Santro Xing and the Hyundai i10, have strengthened Hyundai’s position in the Indian market and helped it to the second slot after Maruti Suzuki.
