Honda takes the 4th position in the Indian auto industry

Honda India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automaker Honda has become the fourth largest carmaker in India along with its highest ever monthly sales recorded in the month of May 2013. The automaker sold a total of 11,342 cars in the month overtaking Tata Motors at 11,134 units and Toyota Kirloskar Motor at 10,023 units.

The growth in sales of the auto manufacturer is attributed to the recent launch of the Amaze sedan in the Indian car market which is the first car model by the company in India to sport a diesel engine option. The Amaze sedan sales accounted for 6,036 units, more than 50 percent of the company’s total sales for the month.

The total increase in sales of the carmaker in May 2013 in comparison to April 2013 stands at 34 percent. The year-on-year increment against May 2012 stands at 10 percent.
