Honda recalls Jazz, City, Civic and Accord for airbag issue

Honda Car India has announced a voluntary recall of 41,580 vehicles in India to replace the Takata front airbag. The replace Takata passenger front airbag has affected previous generation of Jazz, City, Civic and Accord vehicles, those were manufactured in 2012. Company announced it as part of Honda’s precautionary global recall campaign concerning Takata front airbag inflators.

The Honda City is the highest affected vehicle with a total of number of units 32,456 then number of Jazz hatchback includes 7,265 units, Civic sedan is 1,200 units and Accord sedan calculated 659 units joined the recall process. The replacement will be carried out free of cost at Honda’s authorized dealerships across India and company will communicate with the customers directly for the replacement of the airbag inflators.

Also on the other hand, the customers can check whether their vehicle is covered under the recall to go through the company’s official website and entering the 17 alpha-numeric characters of Vehicle Identification Number (Or Chassis No) on the microsite.

Honda recalled 1.9 lakh units in July 2016, here is the details:

The company has recalled the 1,90,578 cars in July 2016 (last year) to replace front airbags. Company were recalled including 1,37,270 units of Honda City manufactured between 2008 and 2011, then 22,483 of Accords (2003-2011 models), Jazz included 15,706 units (2009-2011 models), Civics 13,605 (2007-2011 models), and SUV CR-Vs included 1,514 units (2009-2011 models).
