Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has announced its decision to participate in the FIA*1 Formula One (F1) World Championship in collaboration with the UK-based F1 corporation McLaren. The partnership will commence participation from the 2015 season of the F1 World Championship.
As part of the joint venture with McLaren, Honda will be handling the development, manufacturing and supply of the engine and engine recovery system. McLaren on the other hand, will manage the development and manufacturing of the chassis and the management of McLaren Honda, the new team for F1 championship.
The Japanese automaker expects to develop new powertrain technologies in line with the F1 participation as well as enable technological progress in the development of efficient internal combustion engines and energy management technologies.
Honda has in recent years participated in the F1 Racing events from 2006-2008 as an all Honda team managing the development of both engine and chassis.
