Honda Cars India, the wholly owned Indian arm of the Japanese carmaker Honda has registered a growth of 205.5 percent in its sales for the month of January 2013. The carmaker sold 5,451 units in the month in comparison to 1,784 units sold in the same month in 2012.
The cumulative sales in the fiscal 2012-2013 grew by 65 percent. For the period April 2012 to January 2013, the company sold a total of 56,929 units against 34,555 units sold in the period April 2011 to January 2012. The Japanese carmaker exported 359 units in the month of January 2013.
The major contributors to the total sales for the month of January 2013 were the City mid-size sedan with 2898 units and the Brio small car with 2336 units. The Accord premium sedan and the Civic sedan sold 73 units and 53 units respectively. The Jazz premium hatchback sold 61 units while the CR-V SUV sold 30 units.
