Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is set to become the third largest car manufacturer in India, replacing Mahindra & Mahindra which currently hold the position.’
The carmaker is currently in the process of launching new car models in the Indian car market aiming at rapid expansion and market penetration. Also, the carmaker has now started selling diesel powered cars, something which was earlier missing from its portfolio until the launch of the Amaze compact sedan in April 2013.
The recent launch of the new generation Honda City sedan with a diesel engine option has further helped it add sales numbers in India.
The automaker sold a total of 16,316 units in June 2014 in comparison to Mahindra & Mahindra which sold a total of 16,780 units in the same month.
