Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has posted a growth of 15.76 percent in its sales for the month of September 2012. The automaker sold 5,508 units in the month against 4,758 units sold in the same month in 2011.
The sales growth was headed by the City mid-size sedan with 2,815 units followed by 2,064 units sold by the Brio small car. The Jazz premium hatchback was reported to have sold 556 units while the Civic sedan sold 47 units in the month of September 2012. In addition, the automaker also sold 23 units of the Accord premium sedan and 3 units of the CR-V in the month.
The Japanese automaker has been wading through troubled waters since 2011 when the slowdown hit the Indian car market. It has incurred huge losses due to the frequent hikes in petrol price and the absence of any diesel engine model in its car portfolio for the Indian market.
