Honda Cars India reports sales growth of 46 percent in October 2012

Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has recorded a growth of 46 percent in its total sales for the month of October 2012 selling 8,085. The company had sold 5,526 units in the same month in 2011.

The Japanese carmaker’s sales for October 2012 were led by the City mid-size sedan with 3,976 units followed by the small car Brio with 3,700 units. The jazz premium hatchback sold 306 units while the Civic posted sale of 60 units in the month of October 2012. The company also sold 43 units of the premium sedan Accord in the month.

The year-on-year growth recorded by the carmaker is attributable to the disruption of production and sales during the year 2011 along with the non-availability of the automotive parts and components due floods in Thailand and Tsunami in Japan. The production of the company thus came to a halt and sales slumped further due to lack of diesel options in its car portfolio.
