Honda Cars India Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has reported a four-fold increase in sales in the month of December 2012 selling 4,242 units in the month in comparison to 1,072 units sold in the same month in 2011.
Leading the sales was the Brio small car by Honda which sold 2,286 units in December 2012, followed by the Honda City mid-size sedan selling 1,442 units in the month. The Jazz premium hatchback sold 365 units in the month while the Civic premium sedan sold 70 units. The company sold 79 units of the premium sedan Accord in the month of December 2012.
Apart from domestic sales, the Japanese automobile maker exported a total of 422 units during the month.
The four-fold increase in sales of the company may be attributed to the low sales base of December 2011 when it was facing production troubles caused by component supply disruption due to floods in Thailand.
