General Motors India to expand its SUV portfolio

The American automobile manufacturer General Motors’ Indian subsidiary General Motors India is planning to expand its portfolio of SUVs in India by adding compact and fuel efficient car models to the category. The Indian consumers, according to Mr. Lowell Paddock, President and Managing Director, General Motors India demand and desire an efficient and compact SUV.

The compact SUVs are equipped with smaller and fuel efficient engines instead of a more power engine of 2-3 liter engine usually installed in a normal SUV. Thus, the compact SUVs are able to cater to the needs of the customers with their fuel efficient utility. Moreover, at a price tag of Rs. 7,00,000 – Rs. 10,00,000, the compact SUVs are more affordable for the Indian customers in comparison to the full fledged SUVs.

General Motors India currently sells the Captiva SUV in the Indian SUV market.
