General Motors (GM) India, the Indian arm of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors is expected to recall the diesel version of the newly launched Sail sedan. The carmaker is currently inspecting the cars which have already been sold for a problem with engine.
According to a company official, although it is a minor quality issue, the American carmaker may recall these cars if such an issue if found in the cars already sold in the Indian market. Commenting on the development, Mr. P Balendran VP Corporate Affairs GM India stated that a decision will be taken after analyzing if any of the cars sold have the engine problem.
The Sail U-VA hatchback sold 8,167 units since its launch in the month of October 2012 while the Sail sedan was launched in February 2013 selling 10,048 units since. This is despite the fact the small cars have bigger market share in the Indian car industry in comparison to sedans.
