Ford to sell Ford Figo in over 50 countries

Encouraged by the sales figures of its compact car Figo in overseas market, Ford India is contemplating on selling the car in over 50 countries by the end of 2011 or early 2012.

The car which made its international debut in India in March 2010 is currently being sold in 27 countries around the globe. Commenting on the export of the Ford Figo, Ford India Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service), Mr. Nigel E Wark stated that demand for the car abroad has encouraged the company to seek other overseas markets.

While South Africa was the first market where Ford India exported the Figo, in 2010 it added Jamaica to the list, making it the 27th country to where the car is currently exported. Said Mr. Wark, “South Africa is our biggest market but the Middle East also offers good opportunities.” Apart from the Ford Figo, the Ford Fiesta Classic is also exported to South Africa.
