Ford Motor witness a decline in its sales in China

Ford Motor witnessed a decline in its car sales in China for the month of August, 2011. As China is considered one of the world’s most important automobile markets by the automakers, the decline in the sales figures in China is a major setback for Ford Motor.

Ford Motor has been concentrating on increasing its market share in China and India, both of which are believed to be the fastest growing automobile markets in the world. The company sold around 35,000 vehicles in China for the month of August, 2011, which is 7 percent less than what the auto maker sold in August 2010.

Apart from China, Ford Motor is also concentrating on India, where it is investing approximately Rs. 4700 crore in a new venture of engine assembly plants at Sanand (Gujarat). According to Mr. Joe Hinrichs, President, Ford Asia Pacific and Africa, this investment in India is an investment for future of Ford globally as the new advanced facilities will help the company reach the goal of worldwide sales of 80,00,000 vehicles annually by the year 2015.
