Ford India domestic sales 7,319 vehicles and maintained robust exports in April 2011. The company sold 42,395 wholesale and export vehicles from January to April 2011 – clocking an impressive year-on-year growth of 83 percent during the same period last year when it sold 23,115 units.
On the back of the Figo’s success in key international markets, the company shipped out 1167 cars in April – a growth of over five times during the same month last year.
Increasing customer interest in its products has driven Ford India to maintain a healthy momentum this year. Ford India also stirred up the action in the B-segment with two significant products – the classy and affordable Fiesta Classic and the premium and aspirational all-new global Fiesta.
After establishing a strong foothold in the Indian market by winning over 100,000 customers, Ford India launched the ‘Fiesta Classic’ in April. The attractively priced sedan that continues to deliver exceptional drivability, aesthetic styling and superior fuel efficiency with an all new interior package is available at all Ford dealerships across India.
This was soon followed by the unveiling of the all-new global Fiesta in New Delhi, to an enthusiastic customer response. The premium sedan has Ford’s DNA that carves out new standards in its segment with its global quality, addictive driving experience, class leading fuel efficiency and intuitive in-cabin technologies.
“The year so far has been encouraging as evident from our year-to-date sales of over 40,000 units including exports, from Jan-April 2011. With Ford products generating a lot of interest we are excited as we introduce more global products in the Indian market. We are encouraged to see our all-new global Fiesta receive a great response during its unveiling recently.” said Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India.
The new Fiesta marks the first in a series of eight new global products that Ford plans to introduce in India by the middle of this decade.
