Ford India, the Indian arm of the American automaker Ford has posted a growth of 3 percent in its sales for the month of December 2013. The total number of cars sold by the carmaker in the month was 11,209 units compared with 10,899 units sold in the same period in 2012.
The total sales of the carmaker include both domestic sales as well as exports. The carmaker’s exports for the month of December 2013 stood at 5,338 units while the exports for the same month in 2012 were 4,382 units.
The growth in sales is being attributed to the expansion of the product line up by the carmaker with the addition of new variants and limited editions of the Figo hatchback, the Endeavor sports utility vehicle and the launch of the new Ford EcoSport compact SUV.
The year 2013 also witnessed a 29 percent increment in the carmaker’s export operations. The carmaker currently exports cars manufactured in India to more than 40 global auto markets such as Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Taiwan, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
