The Indian subsidiary of the American automobile manufacturer Ford has reported a decline of 1.6 percent in its domestic sales for the month of April 2012 selling 7,201 cars in comparison to 7,319 cars sold in April 2011. The company’s exports witnessed a growth of 103 percent at 2,368 cars in April 2012 against 1,167 cars exported in the month in 2011. In terms of total sales, the company’s sales grew by 13 percent with 9,569 cars sold in April 2012 in comparison to 8,486 cars in April 2011.
Commenting on the sales performance of the company in April 2012, Mr. Michael Boneham MD & President Ford India stated that the 13 percent growth is attributed to the increase in its exports which have doubled in comparison to the figures in April 2011.
The company has been adding new markets to which it exports its Figo car model and currently has 35 export destinations.
