Ford to expand export operations in India

Ford India, the Indian ancillary unit of the American car major Ford is planning to expand its export operations in India and considers increasing the number of car exports from India to other global markets.

The company expects the B segment or the compact car platform to boost sales volumes in the Asia Pacific region. According to Mr. Alan Mulally President and CEO Ford Motor Company, the carmaker will be exporting the Figo hatchback and the new EcoSport compact SUV from India.

Mr. Mulally added that Ford is currently focusing on the B segment and will be launching new car models in the segment.

Among the three manufacturing plants producing the EcoSport, one is located in India and it will be catering to the demand in the Asia Pacific region.
