Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat’s Indian subsidiary Fiat India has announced its expansion plans in the Indian car market after ending the distribution and sales agreement with Tata Motors. The company expects to open 80-100 exclusive dealerships across the country by 2013-14 in order to boost sales and expand presence in the market.
The company has earlier planned on opening about 20 dealerships in the fiscal 2012-13 and is apparently planning to speed up the process and improve sales volumes. According to Mr. Enrico Anatasio Senior Vice-President Fiat India, the company is targeting a market share of 1.5 percent from the current 0.7 percent with a focus on expanding dealer network and launching new car models and variants.
Fiat is also considering introducing brands like the Jeep in India as part of expanding its product portfolio.
