Fiat India launches the Linea Classic sedan at Rs 5,99,000

Fiat India, the Indian arm of the Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat has launched a new version of the Linea sedan, namely the Linea Classic at a entry level price of Rs 5,99,000 (ex-showroom New Delhi). The carmaker is targeting the festive season with launch of the new car and expects to boosts its sales in the Indian car market.

The new Linea Classic will be available in with both petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol version will be equipped with a 1.4 liter Fire petrol engine while the diesel versions will be powered by a 1.3 liter mulijet diesel engine.

Commenting on the launch of the new car version, Mr. Nagesh Basavanhalli President and MD Fiat Chrysler stated that the new car offers the luxuries of a sedan at a price range of a hatchback and is in line with the spirit of celebration in the festive season. The new car includes features such as hydraulic power steering, dual parabola headlamps, programmable speed limit buzzer and fire prevention systems.

Mr. Basavanhalli added that the carmaker currently has a dealership network of 79 which it plans to expand to 100 by the end of the year 2013.

The Italian carmaker is targeting the entry level sedan segment on the basis of the growth of 12 percent witnessed in the year 2012 despite low economic activity in the Indian car market. The segment has already grown by 15 percent in 2013 till the month of August.
