Fiat India inaugurates first stockyard at Pune

Fiat India, the Indian arm of the Italian auto major Fiat inaugurated a new stockyard at Ranjangaon, Pune. The new facility is the automaker’s first stockyard in India and is spread across 12 acres of land with the capacity to house 2,000 cars and with close proximity to its manufacturing unit.

The storage area has been paved with concrete paver block to ensure safe storage of the automobiles. A separate loading area in the facility allows loading of cars into car carrier trailers. Currently, the carmaker plans to use the new stockyard for the storage of the existing Fiat car models namely the Fiat Linea sedan and the Fiat Punto hatchback. The stockyard will also house the new car models by Fiat and Chrysler brand when they are introduced in the Indian car market.

According to Mr. Enrico Atanasio MD FIAT, the India is a strategic market for the company and soon expects it to be among the top 5 auto markets in the world. He added that the new stockyard is part of Fiat’s expansion strategy for the Indian market.
