Fiat Grande Punto to be costlier

2009 Fiat Grande PuntoFiat India is planning to hike the price of its high-end hatchback, the Grande Punto, sometime soon. Launched in June 2009, the car currently costs Rs 3.99 lakh for the 1.2 litre petrol variant and Rs 4.66 lakh for the 1.3 litre diesel variant (ex-showroom Delhi). After the price hike, it will be costlier by Rs 10,000-12,000 across variants.

A Fiat India representative said that though raw material prices have increased considerably, the Punto will see only a marginal price-hike. Over the past 6-9 months, there has been a significant increase in steel and tyre prices. Most auto companies have so far avoided a hike in vehicle prices, but if raw material costs escalate further, other carmakers may soon follow in the footsteps of Fiat.

  1. Wrong move Fiat!!!

When Punto customers are crying for a quality of parts / service and no accessories yet in store.

and VV come up with a small car.. i think fiat is yet again here to fail..

  2. Fiat was being very carefu with the pricing of the Punto when it was luanched. Hope with the price rise, sales of the Punto will not be effected.

  3. That is inevitable … with cars like Manza bringing down all the costs for the Indian buyer, Fiat might be better off not increasing the prices.. i think it is too soon for this.
