BMW to help create sustainable metros

BMW has announced that it will be launching an initiative to find solutions to the problems faced by people living in urban cities. The initiative will address the issues of increasing population and the resulting inadequacy of facilities. The BMW-Guggenheim initiative will include a mobile laboratory which will study the problems in various metro cities of the world and will explore for ideas and solutions for the same.

Mumbai has been selected by the company to be the venue for its first cycle in Asia. Being the most populous city in India and ranking among the five most populous cities in the world, Mumbai will be covered in the first phase of the six year project along with New York (USA) and Berlin (Germany). The project will cover nine major cities around the globe and the mobile lab will explore for solutions to address people’s needs in urban environments. The research project is being conducted by BMW in collaboration with Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum situated in New York City (USA).
