BMW launches the new M5 luxury sedan in India

BMW India, the Indian arm of the German luxury car brand BMW has introduced the new M5 performance luxury sedan in India at a price of Rs 1,35,40,000 (Ex-showroom India). The car has been made available at BMW dealerships across India as a CBU (Completely Built-Up) unit.

According to Mr. Philipp von Sahr President, BMW Group India, the new BMW M5 has been rolled out as an independent production of BMW M GmbH, the high performance division of BMW and combines high performance optimally with everyday practicality.

The new luxury sedan is available as a petrol variant and comes in Alpine White non-metallic paintwork and alternately in following seven metallic paintworks: Black Sapphire, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Monte Carlo Blue, Sakhir Orange, Silverstone, Singapore Grey and Space Grey.

The interiors sport standard Leather Merino upholstery with extended contents in Black, Sakhir Orange and Silverstone color combinations. The interior trims include Fine-wood Trim Ash Grain Brown and Fine-wood Trim Fineline Anthracite with highlight trim finishers Aluminium Trace.

Design:

The design of the M5 has been modeled with large air inlets and aerodynamically optimized wing mirrors. The M kidney grille of the M5 features the M5 logo between the adaptive LED headlights, while the LED rear lights give the car a unique rear look.

Interiors:

The interiors and cockpit of the M5 house various M-specific controls which are placed ergonomically for easy access. The steering wheel features leather upholstery and has a double-spoke wheel design. In comparison to the previous model, the M5 also features an increased volume in storage compartment under the armrest in the central console area. The Control Display features chrome on the sides housing the standard-fitted iDrive operating system.

Engine and Transmission:

The new BMW M5 luxury sedan is equipped with the M TwinPower Turbo eight-cylinder petrol engine, BMW’s most powerful production engine and offers a torque of 680Nm and a power output of 412 kW / 560 hp. The M5 is capable of reaching 100 kilometers per hour of speed in 4.3 seconds.

The new luxury car features a seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission with Cruise Control to improved shifting and driving comfort. This is further enabled by the shift paddles on the leather steering wheel for easy and absolute control. Supporting the high performance engine and transmission is the Active M Differential at the rear axle with the suspension technology precisely tuned to the performance curve with racing know-how.

Safety:

The M5 houses various safety features such as air bags, Active M Differential, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including M Dynamic mode, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Active Protection with Attentiveness Assistant and Active headrests (front).

BMW EfficientDynamics:

The M5 is packed with a comprehensive technology package including features such as Intelligent Lightweight Construction, Automatic Start/Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power Steering, 50:50 Weight Distribution and other innovative technologies for an optimal performance-to-fuel-consumption ratio.

Infotainment System:

The BMW ConnectedDrive of the M5 features the following components for an intelligent connectivity:

  • BMW iDrive (the on-board Driver Information System) with touch controller and handwriting recognition
  • BMW Navigation Professional (integrated Global Positioning System – GPS) with 25.9 cm color display with 3D maps
  • Full-color BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific views
  • Connectivity through Bluetooth and USB devices, Harman Kardon Surround Sound system and BMW Apps
  • Park Distance Control (PDC) rear and front along with rear view camera (standard features)

The new M5 luxury sedan will take on cars by rival automakers in the same segment such as the E63 AMG by Mercedes Benz India.
