BMW to launch the 1-Series in India in September 2013

BMW India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer is planning to launch the entry level 1-Series car model in the Indian auto market on September 3, 2013. The new car will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.

The diesel model of the new luxury car by BMW will feature a 1997cc diesel motor providing 143bhp. The petrol model of the car features a 1.6-litre turbocharged direct injection motor, also found in the Mini Cooper and the Cooper S, providing power of 136bhp.

While the diesel version of the car is claimed by the luxury automaker to offer a mileage of 20.58 kilometers per liter, the petrol version of the new model will provide a mileage of 16.28 kilometers per liter.

The new car model features an 8-speed automatic transmission for both diesel and petrol versions. The suspension of the car model will be tweaked by the car maker to make it suitable for Indian roads and conditions.
