BMW India records 21.85 percent decline in 2013 sales

BMW India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer BMW has recorded a decline of 21.85 percent in its sales for the year 2013. The luxury carmaker sold a total of 7,327 units in the year in comparison to 9,375 units sold in the year 2012.

While the sales for the automaker declined in 2013, in comparison, the rival luxury carmakers Audi and Mercedes Benz posted overall growth of 11 percent and 31.62 percent respectively in the year 2013.

BMW India’s launched a total of 5 new car models in the year 2013 but was unable to surpass the total number of cars sold by rival luxury carmakers. The new car launches by the carmaker include the X1 compact SUV, the 7 Series sedan, the 5 Series sedan, the 1 Series compact hatchback, and the Z4 2-seater roadster in India.

Meanwhile, rival luxury carmaker Audi India has achieved the 10,000 unit milestone becoming the first luxury automaker to achieve this sales figure.
