BMW India records 100 bookings for the Mini

BMW India, having received about 100 bookings for the iconic Mini car model range, states that the response for the car series is better than the company expected. The new car range will be imported as completely built units and will be sold with a price tag of Rs. 25,00,000 to Rs. 37,00,000. The company plans to launch two exclusive Mini showrooms in Delhi and a third in Mumbai by March 2012 and the delivery for the Minis will commence from April 2012.

The company plans to sell only a few hundred units of the car range in order to maintain the exclusivity of the brand and due to the limitation of car units that can be imported. The BMW India will need to place orders in Germany and the process would take nine months for the cars to reach India. The Mini range of cars will compete with the likes of Volkswagen’s Beetle and the Fiat 500.
