BMW India to recall 3,422 cars sold till 2010

As part of the German luxury carmaker BMW’s global recall of 13,00,000 vehicles for the replacement of a battery cable cover, BMW India will recall 3,422 units for the exercise. Comprising car models of the five-series saloon, six- series coupe and convertibles, this will mark the biggest recall yet by a luxury auto manufacturer in India.

According to a statement by BMW India, the company will be replacing the car part without any charge for the customers. The replacement will be made in cars which were manufactured in the period of 2007 to 2010. As claimed by the company, until now there have been no reported cases regarding the auto part to be replaced.

The company states that the battery cable cover to be replaced may be mounted incorrectly which may result in an electrical system malfunction.
