BMW India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer BMW has introduced the 3 Series Gran Turismo for the Indian car market at a starting price of Rs 42,75,000 (ex-showroom). The new coupe car model will be assembled locally in India at the carmaker’s Singaperumal Koil facility near Chennai.
The 3 Series Gran Turismo is equipped with a 2.0 litre BMW Twinpower turbo four cylinder diesel engine combing commonrail direct injection. The car is claimed to attain a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds and have a top speed of 226 kilometers per hour.
The carmaker expects to strengthen its presence in the Indian luxury car segment with the new 3 Series Gran Turismo. The new car has been launched in India with both petrol and diesel engine options. Among the design features of the new car model are coupe-style roofline, flowing rear end with large load aperture and frameless side windows.
The new luxury car model also features rear spoiler that is designed to deploy at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour and retract at a speed lower than 70 kilometers per hour.
