Audi TT RS breaks cover

German car maker Audi has just revealed the most powerful version of its TT sports car and it’s called the TT RS.  While, the Audi TT is a pretty decent entry-level sports car, the new and improved TT RS will be even more impressive in terms of driving dynamics. The new TT RS was revealed at the Beijing motor show in its roadster and coupé models. The RS version of the TT will use the latest version of Audi’s 2.5 litre 5-cylinder turbo petrol engine.

This new engine uses an aluminium block and weighs 10kgs less than the older steel-block unit. The engine can pump out 400bhp and has 507Nm of torque. This allows for a 0-100kmph in 3.7 seconds – that is half a second faster than the 718 Cayman S, which was also revealed at Beijing. The top speed of the TT RS is restricted to 250kmph, but can be raised to 280kmph.The engine is mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with gear ratios specific to the car launch control and Quattro all-wheel drive as standard. To make the car more aerodynamic it sits 10mm lower than the standard TT and it also gets stiffer springs and dampers for better handling capability. However, the TT RS uses standard steel disc brakes with carbon-ceramic units available as an option.
