Audi India sells 500 units of the Q3 in first 5 days of debut

The German luxury automaker Audi’s Indian subsidiary has sold 500 units of the Q3 Sports utility vehicle (SUV) in 5 days of debut amid sluggish growth in the Indian automobile industry. The feat is being stated to be the biggest debut in the luxury car segment and is speculated to infuse action in the luxury SUV segment in the Indian auto market.

The next batch of the Q3 SUV, the smallest SUV by Audi will be available to the customers by the month of August 2012. According to Mr. Michael Perschke Head Audi India, the next set of 500 Q3s will be manufactured by the end of June 2012 and thus will reach the showrooms by August 2012.

The quick sales of the Q3 are being attributed to the company’s strategy of targeting young customers and the company’s pricing strategy apart from the growing trend of SUVs in India. Mr. Perschke states that the Q3 is targeted at customers in the age group of 25-40 years.
