Aston Martin, the British luxury sports car maker partially owned by American automaker Ford Motor Company, has unveiled its four-door Rapide S for the Indian car market. The new luxury sports car has been showcased by the automaker for a price of Rs 4.4 crore (Ex-showroom Mumbai).
The British luxury sports carmaker is targeting a total of 10-15 unit sales during an ongoing road show being conducting across various cities in India. Along with the Rapide S, the automaker is also showcasing the Aston Martin Vantage car model for car enthusiasts in the Coimbatore and Tripura region.
Mr. Sandeep Gupta Assistant Sales Manager Performance Cars attributes the high prices of Aston Martin cars in India to the fluctuating exchange rate brought about by the depreciation of the Indian Rupee and the hike in the customs duty on luxury automobiles from 110 to 175 percent.
Aston Martin has so far sold a total of 55 car units in India since its entry in the year 2011. It is currently targeting to sell a minimum of 20 cars in the Southern region of India in 2014.
