What you see here is the love child between an Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing. Both companies have joined forces to produce the AM-RB 001. Billed as a race-car meant for the road, the project to develop this awe-inspiring hypercar was led by Aston Martin’s chief creative officer, Marek Reichman, and Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 design genius, Adrian Newey. The AM-RM 001 is a super special piece of machinery and, as a result, it will be produced in very limited numbers – somewhere between 99 and 150 units including all the prototypes and 25 track-only versions will be produced. Customer deliveries will commence in 2018 and prices have not been revealed as yet, but it certainly will cost a fortune to own one.
The AM-RB 001 gets a mid-mounted naturally aspirated V12 engine and a lightweight carbon-fibre body along with some awesome aerodynamics aids. While Aston Martin won’t reveal full specs, it says that the AM-RB 001 will have a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1. Some reports claim the hypercar to weigh below the 1 tonne mark, so we can expect it to have around 900bhp. Aston Martin has said that Newey worked on the design in such a way that the maximum downforce is generated through underfloor aerodynamics, meaning his work did not intervene with Reichman’s design, allowing him to create a dramatic bodywork.
