Maruti Suzuki India posts 1.3 percent growth in July 2013 sales

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has posted sales growth of 1.3 percent in its total sales for the month of July 2013. The Japanese carmaker sold a total of 83,299 units in the month in comparison to 82,234 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The domestic sales of the carmaker increased by 5.8 percent in July 2013 selling 75,145 units compared with 71,024 units sold in July 2012. The volume selling mini car segment of the automaker grew by 15.8 percent from 28,998 units sold in July 2012 to 33,587 units in July 2013.

Sales in the compact car segment which include the Swift, the Estilo and the Ritz declined by 11.9 percent selling 13,882 in July 2013 as against 15,759 units sold in July 2012.

The sale of the compact sedan car model DZire witnessed an increment of 33.6 percent in July 2013, selling 15,249 units in comparison to 11,413 units sold in July 2012.

The SX4 mid-size sedan saw a fall in sales by 52.6 percent in July 2013 while the Kizashi premium sedan did not sell any units in the month. The utility segment sales of the carmaker also fell by 37.5 percent to 4,562 units in July 2013 from 7,294 units sold in July 2012.

The exports of the Japanese automaker also declined by 27.3 percent registering sales of 8,154 units in July 2013 as compared to 11,210 units sold in July 2012.
