Ford India sales decline 22.46 percent in May 2013

Ford India, the Indian arm of the American automobile major Ford has witnessed a fall of 22.46 percent in its sales for the month of May 2013. The automaker sold a total of 5,993 units in the month in comparison to 7,729 units sold in the month of May 2012.

The domestic sales of the carmaker also fell by 33.69 percent with sales of 4,002 units in May 2013 against 6,036 units sold in May 2012. The exports of the American company however rose by 17.6 percent clocking 1,991 units compared with 1,693 units exported in the same month in 2012.

According to Mr. Anurag Mehrotra Vice President (Sales) Ford India, the automaker sees long term potential in the Indian car market and expects growth in sales with launch of new car products. He added that increase in export sales indicate success of its ‘One Ford’ plan.
