Mercedes Benz India posts 5.3 percent sales growth in March 2013

Mercedes Benz India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes Benz has registered a growth of 5.3 percent in its sales for the period of January 2013 – March 2013, the first quarter of the calendar year 2013.

The luxury carmaker sold a total of 2,009 units in the period in comparison to 1,908 units sold in the same period in 2012. Among the Mercedes Benz car models, the highest contribution was by the E-Class saloon.

Mr. Eberhard Kern Managing Director and CEO Mercedes-Benz India stated that the company has performed satisfactorily in the quarter considering the tough market conditions in the Indian auto industry. He added that the company envisions a double digit growth in the quarter April – June 2013.

The carmaker’s completely built units (CBUs) however have witnessed a growth of 40 percent in the month of March 2013 in comparison to the sales of CBUs in March 2012.
