Tata Motors, the third largest carmaker in India has posted total sales growth of 6 percent in the month of October 2012. The Indian automobile manufacturer sold 71,771 vehicles in the month including commercial and passenger vehicles. The domestic sales of the company grew by 7 percent recording 68,145 unit sales in October 2012 in comparison to 63,837 units sold in October 2011.
The automaker’s exports declined by 13 percent at 3,626 vehicles in October 2012 compared to 4,171 vehicles sold in the same month in 2011. The passenger vehicle sales for the month also decreased by 16 percent recording 21,119 units compared with 25,124 units sold in October 2011.
The major contributors to the sales numbers in October 2012 were the Indica range with 6,692 units, the Indigo range with 5,748 units, the Tata Nano with 4,004 units and the rest were accounted for by the MPV/SUV segment of the company with 4,675 units.
