American car manufacturer Ford’s Indian subsidiary, Ford India has posted a decline of 6.35 percent in its domestic sales for the month of October 2012 selling 7,577 units in comparison to 8,091 units sold in the same month in 2011.
The total sales of the carmaker increased marginally in the month at 10,948 units against 10,906 units sold in October 2011. The increase in the total sales is attributed to the increase of 19.75 percent in the carmaker’s exports from 2,815 units in October 2011 to 3,371 units in October 2012.
Commenting on the sales performance of the company, Mr. Michael Boneham President and Managing Director Ford India stated that the festival season in India is a high point for the automobile industry. He added that October 2012 has been the company’s second best month for sales in the fiscal 2012-13.
