Skoda India to venture into used car business

Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda is planning to enter the used car industry by the end of the fiscal 2012-13. The move by the company is triggered by the sluggish sales in the Indian automobile industry. It expects to expand its customer base and initiate new customers into the Skoda brand through the pre-owned car business.’

The company’s venture into the used car business is a part of its growth strategy to expand its presence in the Indian auto market, stated Mr. Sudhir Rao Managing Director Skoda India. It also plans to expand its dealership network and increasing its existing outlets from 102 dealerships to 150 dealerships by the year 2014-15.

The pre-owned car business will not only offer the company with the opportunity to increase sales numbers at dealerships but will also help in initiating new vehicle sales through exchange programs and loyalty programs for customers.
