The American automobile manufacturer Ford has posted a decline of 22.18 percent in total sales in the Indian auto market for the month of July 2012 selling 8,323 units in comparison to 10,696 units sold by the company in the same month in 2011.
The company’s domestic sales fell by 16.89 percent from 7,504 units sold in July 2011 to 6,236 units sold in the same month in 2012. The exports of the company also witnessed a fall of 34.61 percent from 3,192 units in the month of July 2011 to 2,087 units in July 2012.
The fall in sales is being attributed by the company to the frequent hikes in the petrol prices and the current level of inflation and high interest rates which have contributed to the challenging market conditions in the Indian automobile industry.
