Hyundai India total sales increase 16.56 percent in May 2012

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the second largest carmaker and the largest car exporter in India has posted a growth of 16.56 percent in its total sales for the month of May 2012 attributed largely to its exports in the month which grew by 42.2 percent while its domestic sales grew marginally by 2.85 percent.

The company sold a total of 55,670 units in the month in comparison to 47,762 units sold in May 2011. The domestic sales were sluggish and grew from 31,123 units in the month in 2011 to 32,010 units in May 2012. The exports of the company rose to 23,660 units in May 2012 from 16,639 units in the same month in 2011.

According to Mr. Arvind Saxena Director (Marketing and Sales) HMIL, the domestic sales of the company have taken a hit due to the steep petrol price hike of Rs 7.54.
