Fiat India to open dedicated dealerships and launch new brands

Fiat India has initiated the implementation of its plans to take over the management of Fiat cars distribution and sales by opening its first exclusive dealership in Hyderabad on May 9, 2012. The company now looks forward to expanding its dedicated dealer network in India. Plans to introduce new brands from Fiat’s global portfolio are also under consideration.

Speaking at the opening of Fiat’s first exclusive dealership, Mr. Enrico Atanasio Head-Commercial Fiat India stated that the company had earlier planned to open 20 dedicated dealers in the fiscal 2012-13 but now it may accelerate the process to open more. The motive for Fiat India to part ways with Tata Motors in terms of its distribution agreement is to strengthen the brand through its dedicated dealers.

The company currently holds 0.7 percent of the car market share in India and sells about 20,000 units annually.
