Maruti Suzuki India hikes car prices by up to Rs 17,000

India’s largest automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has raised prices across all products in its portfolio by up to Rs 17,000 in response to the excise duty hike announced in the Budget 2012-13. The hike is an average increment of 1.75 percent in car prices, states Mr. Mayank Pareek MSIL Managing Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales).

The hike has affected all the cars ranging from the company’s Maruti 800 small car to the SX4 mid-size sedan. The Maruti Suzuki Alto’s price is higher by a range of Rs 4,200-Rs 5,900 taking its pricing range to Rs 2,40,000 – Rs 3,42,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The Alto K10 which is a higher variant of the Alto is costlier by Rs 5,500-Rs 5,700 and is available at Rs 3,14,000 – Rs 3,30,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi).

The price of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR has been increased by Rs 6,000-Rs 7,600 and is being sold at Rs 3,47,000 – Rs 4,37,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The Swift premium hatchback is costlier by Rs 7,700-Rs 11,900 and can be availed at a price range of Rs 4,44,000 – Rs 6,76,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The new Swift DZire’s price has been increased by Rs 8,500-Rs 12,700 bringing its price to a range of Rs 4,80,000 – Rs 7,51,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi).

The maximum increase in price among the Marut Suzuki portfolio is on the mid-size sedan SX4 to the tune of Rs 9,400-Rs 17,000. The sedan is now available at Rs 7,11,000 – Rs 9,39,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi).
