Peugeot unveils Peugeot 508 sedan in India at Auto Expo 2012

French automobile manufacturer Peugeot on January 5, 2012 unveiled its Peugeot 508 sedan for its portfolio in the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2012. The new sedan will compete with the Honda Accord and the Volkswagen Passat and is powered by a 2.2liter HDI commor rail diesel engine. The new product is a part of the company’s plan to enter the Indian market and establish itself as a strong contender and contributor in the industry.

Other cars planned by the company to be roped in from its global portfolio and to be introduced in the Indian market are the RCZ 2+2 sports coupe and the Peugeot 3008 MPV. Peugeot plans to set up its manufacturing facility at Sanand in Gujarat. However, it is engaged in building up its dealer network in order to support future sales after which the company will start selling locally made cars in India. Until then, the company’s products can be expected to be imported as completely built units.
