Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC)’s production and sales subsidiary in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd. will commence the export of its Etios series including the Etios sedan and the Etios hatchback to South Africa in March 2012. The export of the Etios will be company’s first export from India.
Although the models which will be exported will be based on the Etios platform, currently being sold in India, the models developed to be exported will be in accordance with the consumer preference, climate and road conditions prevalent in South Africa.
In line with its Global Vision released in March 2011, Toyota Motor Corporation is focusing on the emerging markets and is planning to boost its sales in these markets. The company will also increase its production capacity in India from the current 1,60,000 vehicles per year to 3,10,000 vehicles in 2013.
