Fiat to open separate showrooms in India by 2012

Fiat, which currently has a joint venture with Tata Motors, is planning to open its own showrooms for its cars in India by the middle of 2012, stated Mr. Rajeev Kapoor, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fiat. Mr. Kapoor added that the firm is in talks with the dealers to open separate showrooms for Fiat within the existing dealerships.

The company feels exclusive showrooms for the Fiat brand of cars will help draw customers’ attention to Fiat products which have faced an identity crisis due to joint dealerships. The company is also making other changes to improve its sales and brand identity. Recently, Fiat India made an official announcement regarding restructuring the management and created 4 sovereign geographical regions for its global business. Mr. Michael Manley was appointed the Head of the Asia Pacific region. These changes will come in effect from 1st of September and, according to Mr. Kapoor, will have a positive impact on the Indian business of the firm.
