Maruti Suzuki on August 17, 2011, launched the new Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback in India. Slotted in the upper B-segment of the Indian car market, the new Swift is the latest international version of its globally successful Swift model and is packed with new improved features over its predecessor.
As for its exterior, the new Swift 2011 is built on a new platform that is longer and larger, giving the car a bigger look. The exterior also boasts of new headlights and taillights. Changes have also been made to the car’s interiors and new features include USB port connectivity, steering mounted controls and an in-dash multi information display. The new Swift’s boot space has been reduced to 205 liters, in comparison to its older version which had 232 liters of boot space.
The new Swift has a petrol engine equipped with the dual variable valve technology, which boosts its power output to 87 PS @ 6000 rpm and generates a torque of 114Nm at 4000 rpm. The fuel efficiency too has been improved to 18.6 kmpl, in comparison to its older model’s 17.9 kmpl. The 1248cc DDiS diesel engine which generates 75 PS@4000 rpm remains unchanged. The new 5 speed gearbox in both the petrol and diesel version offers improved gear transitions.
Available at all the Maruti Suzuki dealerships across India, the Swift’s petrol version is priced between Rs. 4,22,000-5,53,000 and its diesel version between Rs. 5,17,000-6,38,000.
